Jackfruit Artocarpus heterophyllus

Black Gold

This cultivar (Grafted) from Queensland Australia, is a vigorous fast growing tree. The growth is easily manageable with annual pruning. This fast growth and size management make it ideal for growers wanting quick production or have a limited growing area. Jackfruit trees have been known to grow as much as five feet per year with proper care, plenty of sun and nutrition.

Trees tolerate a pH range from 5 - 7.5

Trees can be maintained at 8-10 feet in height with about an 8 foot spread. Once topped, trees require continual pruning or the new growth of stems often breaks under the weight of the fruit.

IMPORTANT READ THIS:

Seedling plants need protection from cold weather, wind, sun, dry conditions.

On arrival of your seedling place them in a location with temperatures about (70-80 F) in shade but NOT direct sun for two weeks so they can adjust from shipping. NO direct sunlight at all!

NO partial shade - FULL SHADE ONLY!

Once again: Sun will burn the seedlings! Allow the plants a week or two to adjust before transplanting or fertilizing. If you plan to plant them in the garden, gradually increase their exposure to sunlight and outdoor conditions! Temperatures falling below 50 F can result in plant damage or death.

Pepe's Plants will not be responsible for plants that die as a result of improper care and handling once it is in the buyers hands. Contact me immediately (within at least 48 hours) if something is wrong with the plant.
