ITEM DESCRIPTION: One Lemon Drop Mangosteen seedling tree.

(Garcinia intermedia) is an evergreen shrub or small tree. Approximately 8 inches tall on average. A cousin of the mangosteen that can be grown in containers and brought indoors during winters in more northern climates.

Flowering/Pollination: Small white flowers appear sporadically throughout the year, often setting fruit. Self fertile.

Achachairu is related to the mangosteen. They are also called Achachas and they are tangy and refreshing with a delicate subtle sweetness, a fine balance between sweetness and acidity.

Fruit should be picked mature as it does not ripen further on storage. Originating from the Bolivian part of the Amazon basin in South America, the Bolivian name of the fruit is Achachairu and translated means honey kiss.

The tree may fruit after as little as two years. The fruits are smooth spheres about an inch in diameter with a thin yellow, orange or red rind around a white pulp. They are edible and have an appealing sweet and sour taste. It is usually eaten out of hand, though can be used for drinks, jams and jellies

Pepe's Plants will not be responsible for plants that die as a result of improper care and handling once it is in the buyers hands.

On arrival of your seedling put them in a place with temperatures about (70-80 F) in shade but NOT direct sun for two weeks so they can adjust from shipping. NO direct sunlight at all! NO partial shade - FULL SHADE ONLY! Once again: Sun will burn the seedlings! Allow the plants a week or two to adjust before transplanting or fertilizing. If you plan to plant them in the garden, gradually increase their exposure to sunlight and outdoor conditions!
